Live: Australia vs England 2nd ODI at the Gabba

Live: Australia vs England 2nd ODI at the Gabba

ENGLAND showed it’s a completely different proposition in the 50-over format by smacking Australia in the first ODI in Melbourne.
The visitors’ approach to the early overs of their innings has forced a rethink by an Aussie side that has lost four out of its past five one-dayers.
Australia is batting first after winning the toss.
England 5/243 from 40 overs. Root 41, Woakes 13
Australia 8/270 (Finch 106, Marsh 36)
Fired up Starc strike gives Aussies a pulse
Mitchell Starc gave Australia a tiny sniff when he struck twice in the 38th over.
After removing Jos Buttler for 42, Starc produced one of his trademark inswinging yorkers to send Moeen Ali packing for one.
Starc’s good line and length delivery to Buttler saw the England batsman prod and snick behind to keeper Alex Carey.
England was 6/227 when the wicket fell, still needing 44 runs from 75 deliveries.
The double strike took Starc’s figures to 4/59.
“That is the perfect inswinging yorker from Mitchell Starc,” England Test star Jimmy Anderson told the BBC.
“Not many in-form batsmen are keeping that out, and not Moeen Ali. That is not the delivery you want to face when you’re in, never mind when you’ve faced one delivery.”
